Got a bit of a dive trip planned for end of Feb this year for a month.

Perhentian, Malaysia
Komodo, Indonesia - probably with Blue Marlin
Gili Air, Indonesia

Any suggestions ?

Haven't been to any of those places, but a couple of friends said they were disappointed with the diving at Gili Air.

The diving in Komodo is brilliant! If you've got the time/money, dive it on a liveaboard for all the usual reasons. I used www.divekomodo.com if you're looking for a starting point with your research.

Well I am back

Perhentian was a bust - 1.5m vis - my fault wrong time of the year.

Komodo and Gili Air were amazing.

Did my advanced in Gili Air.

Everything in Komodo was bigger, clearer and more amazing than any other dive place I have been to date. Highly recommend being an 'advanced' OW or AOW before going. At least be experienced with currents and deeper water before going.

Oh looking back at this post makes me giggle.

I have just come back from returning to Gili Air this year where I did my divemaster as well as worked for the rest of the season. I also got to work as a guide in Komodo for about a week while I was on a liveaboard there.

Looking back the Gilis offered a real range of diving for me. I got my 40m qual, spent hours on muck dives looking at tiny tiny things as well as assisting courses and showing new divers the underwater world, plus lived on a tiny sand atoll so who can complain.

I really loved the 2 muck dive: Teluk Nore and Kecinan, both in Lombok just in front of Gili Air.
So many frogfish and rare nudibranch, definitely good for macro photographer!
