Location: Cape Jervis
Diver Qualification: Open Water
Average Depth: 5mtrs
Max Depth: 18mtrs
Directions: Just before Cape Jervis, there is a sign on the left, leading to fisheries beach, follow the road to the end, and get in the water at the beach.
Description: Just to the right of the sandy beach, is a line of rocks that goes out 50 metres into the water. Follow that out, and there is a reef 3-400 metres offshore, that runs parallel to the shore. The reef isn't overly high, but there is a bit of life on it. 100 metres past the reef is an abalone bed, with plenty more abs than you will ever need.
Around the reef, and between the reef and shore, are heaps of anchors, cart wheels chain, etc. that are almost 100 years old. The boats used to tow out expendable anchors here, in the bay, at high tide, beach themselves at low tide, so the horse and carts could unload the boats. Well worth a look if you are into that kind of thing.
