Description: This was my first dive at Julian Rocks and after just diving at the Cod Hole in FNQ my expectations were high, whoops, who gave it this name - no cod.
The Cod Hole it self is a small Arch which you can swim through and down to come out the back into an area of large gutters of rock and sand. The rock was covered in low growth, but that was back in 1992 and I have not been back since.
A couple in the group I was in did sight a lone Grey Nurse which are known to frequent the area.
The cod hole off the side of Julian Rocks in Byron Bay is a superb dive spot. My first dive out of training i went here and saw 2 big QLD Cod in the hole and bullseye absolutely jam packed inside. The 2nd dive i did in the cod hole there was a massive turtle hiding inside.
An absolutely wonderful dive spot. Recommend it to anyone.
